Raw link totals can hide weak architecture because a page may receive hundreds of footer links but almost no contextual support. A more useful audit records how many unique relevant pages link to each important destination from the body, which anchor language they use, whether those sources represent different stages of the funnel, and whether the destination links back to appropriate evidence or decision pages. That makes it possible to distinguish a genuinely supported commercial pillar from a globally linked orphan. The objective is not to maximize contextual links mechanically; it is to ensure that every important page is reinforced by a small, defensible set of pages that share topic, problem or buyer-decision context.
